Fortunate to live in the early days of Rock & Roll while guys like Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley were actively establishing their immortality, the Coasters were real showmen that put a smile on everyone’s face. They were also a favorite of the DJs and everybody loved hearing their latest 45s when played on the radio. Charlie Brown, Yakity Yak, and Little Egypt were among their biggest hits, but this CD has several of their classics that I still love hearing just as much as I did 60 years ago. By the way, single copies of a song were purchased on records in those days, called a 45, and there was usually one song on each side.R&R was broadcast on AM radio stations, before FM became the favored radio frequency, and long before there was such a thing as stereo FM. Most of the Oldies stations today only play a small percentage of the immense amount of talent from those days, and I have to wonder why, because there were so many groups performing like the Coasters, with classic performances that everyone loved. So thanks to those who bring all these classic works back into publication, because I know that the younger generation today has an appreciation for much of the same music I grew up listening to. It's Rock & Roll, and it will live forever.
